African young journalists complete high-level training program in China
A Training Program for Young Media Professionals from English-Speaking African Countries brought together journalists from South Sudan, South Africa, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zambia, and The Gambia, and was successfully concluded in China on 9 June 2026, after weeks of intensive learning, field visits, and cultural exchange activities. The program aimed to strengthen international cooperation in journalism, media development, and cross-cultural communication, with a strong focus on modern reporting practices, media innovation, and the role of technology and artificial intelligence in today’s news industry.
The training sessions were conducted across multiple cities in China, starting in Beijing with foundational lectures on international reporting, media innovation, and China–Africa cooperation. Participants later continued their studies in Chengdu, where they explored media systems, development communication, and cultural exchange. The final stage of the program took place in Leshan before returning to Beijing, offering a rich combination of academic learning, institutional visits, and cultural exposure across different regions.
Among the participants, Dhieu Garang took part in the program while representing Hot In Juba throughout the training. His participation provided valuable insight into modern media practices and the growing impact of digital tools and artificial intelligence in journalism.
