Slate Nation, born Ngot Peter Mou Athuai, is a South Sudanese artist, songwriter, and performer originally from Thiet in Tonj State. Raised in South Sudan before later relocating to Australia, his life experiences have played a major role in shaping his music and artistic identity. Slate Nation began his musical journey in 2007 as a choir member at Don Bosco Missionary School in Tonj. In 2010, he became part of the music group T.E.C Hiroz, where he recorded some of his earliest songs and gained valuable experience as a performer and songwriter.
His breakthrough came with the release of “Juba Juice,” a song that helped establish him as one of South Sudan’s most recognized contemporary artists. Over the years, he continued developing a unique sound that blends Afrobeat, Dancehall, Ragga, Zouk, and South Sudanese musical influences, allowing him to connect with audiences across East Africa and beyond.
Throughout his career, Slate Nation has built an impressive catalogue of music and international collaborations. He has worked with notable African artists including Jose Chameleone, Pallaso, Skales, and other respected performers across the region.
